I got a PUPPY for my birthday!!!

The newest addition to the Rubey family Great Dane collective is this gorgeous fawn boy:

Duncan!!

He's sweet, super-friendly, mellow, a little dopey but also smart. At four months old he already weighs 75 pounds and just Look. At. Those. Paws!

Thanks to his breeder, Fran Lass, he already knows "sit" and "down" and best of all, in the 28 hours that he's been with us so far: NO potty accidents! He's such a little charmer, we're completely smitten.

His Dad came from a breeder in Texas called XR Danes - that's right, my initials, my home state -- and Duncan became available to us two days before my birthday. Signs from above, right?!

We agonized over the name and finally chose the name Duncan because he's the color of glazed donuts (Dunkin - get it?) and because he's going to be a HUGE gentle giant with an endearing personality like Michael Clarke Duncan and also because Duncan was the last name of the donkey in Sylvester and The Magic Pebble which is pure genius and because my sister says Tim Duncan is a wonderful person and I'll have to take her word for it because he's a sports person and I don't do sports.
